Constant load infiltrometer
The I1-INF DC constant load infiltrometer (also known as a permeameter) is designed to measure the vertical permeability of loose soils.
The infiltrometer consists of two AISI 304 stainless steel rings inserted concentrically into the ground. The internal ring is supplied with a continuous flow of water that maintains a constant water head on the soil and inside the ring.
A tank equipped with a graduated rod allows you to read the amount of water dispersed into the soil.
The use of two concentric rings significantly reduces errors caused by uncertainty in the flow direction. The external ring creates a peripheral flow that is not considered in the measurement but ensures that the flow from the internal ring moves in a vertical direction, which is the key aspect of the test.
